Only census records and tax lists show Henry's existence. Researchershave found a date of death to be 1835 in Jessamine County, Ky. This datewas derived from a Jessamine Cty Court Record. It reads: Henry Trislerdied abt 1835 in Jessamine County Ky. Jessamine County December Court 1835 ----0183356 (LDS) The estate ofHenry Trisler is granted to Jacob Trisler who took oath required by lawand accepted bond in the penalty of 100 dollars. Henry was on the tax list in 1800 in Jessamine County Kentucky, everymale went on that list at the age of 21, so his birthdate as shown isclose, but not confirmed. Information on allothers came by way of another researcher from the internet," Gibfarmer".A descendant of John Trisler, also thought to be Henry's son. I believe Henry to be the father of David, my g-gfather. So many datesand places of the descendants make this seem possible. But few records ofHenry, except the tax lists, were found in Jessamine County. There is a complete record of a law suit brought by Henry Trisler againstDr Peter Trisler in 1819. Laura Bell TRISLER10 was born in Aug 1884 in Grove, Indian Territory (later Oklahoma). She died in 1970 in Tulsa, Tulsa, Ok. By Researcher: Tina (Trisler) Gilbert I remember my Aunt Laura as being a very refined, organized, lovely lady. She lived in the city of Tulsa and being a farm child, I was enthralledat how lovely her home was. She had running water in her house! Shewould give the outgrown clothes of her daughter to us. They did not fitme in any way, but I wore them anyway. In my 3rd grade school picture Iam wearing one of those dresses which I loved. It was black, trimmed inblack beads. Too long of course, so I held up the sides while thepicture was being made. She also gave my mother many, many samples of material of all kinds thatUncle Albert would bring home from the furniture store where he worked.Mom made comforters, quilts, etc from these samples. She gave some ninoncurtain material to Mom and she made my dress for the Jr / Sr prom when Iwas a Jr in high school. I loved that dress, it was between a yellow anda lime green in color. I went to stay a week with them one summer andsaw my first movie. It was such a thrill for me. And while there, mycousin, Johnny taught me to play Chinese Checkers and how to play thatgame well. Children were: John TRISLER, Leonard TRISLER, Abraham TRISLER, Jacob TRISLER, Living. Milton L. TRISLER10 was born in 1838 in Indiana. By Researcher: Tina (Trisler) Gilbert I have found proof that this Milton is the brother to my G-father GeorgeTrisler. I believe I have found the Civil War papers on this Milton Trisler. Fromthe National Archives in Washington D C, copies of his Muster papers showhim to have enlisted in Co I, 53rd Reg't, Indiana Infantry on Dec 4,186l. He is described as being age 22, five feet six inches tall, darkcomplexon, eyes and hair black. Says he was born in Jessamine Cty, KY,lived in Rockport. The unit was guarding prisoners in Indianapolis, whenhe enlisted. Then the Co was sent to Savannah, TN spring 1862. A hugebattle was fought here. He was evidently injured during the battle and spent Feb thro' April in ahospital there in Savannah. May & June 1862 he was home on sickfurlough. July & Aug 1862, he was sick in hospital in Evansville, INsince April. Aug 18, 1862 he was sent to ST Lous Mo hospital and theredeclared unfit for duty. Sept & Oct, 1862, he was back in hospital inEvansville. On November 10, 1862 he deserted. On looking over this schedule, I can see why the man would desert. Hewas injured the first battle and spent the entire year going from onehospital to the other. I can imagine since Evansville, is just acrossthe river from his home in Rockport, that he must have decided, "if I amgoing to die, I am going to die at home". And just left the hospital forhome. No death date is known, but he married in 1867, had bought & soldland in 1866. One piece of property was inherited, no doubt from hisfather. (copy of deed in my file) His wife Josephine sold land in 1871.(copy of deed in my file) It would appear that his death was near thatdate. Peter Trisler was a medical Doctor. He was born in Wittenburg, Germanyin 1745. He arrived in Baltimore, Md. in April, 1780 with his children,Henry and Mary Elizabeth. Peter, Jr. and Catherine were born inHagerstown, Maryland. Another daughter, named Elizabeth, whose birth information is unknown atthis time. No wife has ever been found for Dr. Peter. (update-2002) A copy of a court case where a subpeona was served to DrPeter's wife shows her name to be Elizabeth? Records show Dr. Peter was guardian of Joseph Trisler thought to be theson of his brother Michael. As guardian, he gave permission for JosephTrisler to marry Elizabeth Sneider, September 11, 1810. (copy in my file) Peter came to America on ship "Royal Edith", along with his sisterBarbara (1741 - 1817) who was married to Peter Frederick Horine. Theyall settled in Hagerstown Maryland, where they raised large families.Peter left Maryland in 1790 and removed to Kentucky, where he settled onJessamine Creek just outside Lexington. He served the community where helived. There are four excerpts about Dr. Peter Trisler in the Kentucky Gazette, the first newspaper published West of the Alleghanys. Volume XI, number 611, 06 June 1798. "Dr Peter Trisler, 05 June 1798,living on the main fork of Jessamine Creek in Fayette County. Notice todebtors: please pay your bills". A plaque honoring the medical men of his day is on the wall of aMedical Building erected in the Old Fort Harrod Museum, in Harrodsburg,Mercer, Ky and Dr. Peter Trisler is etched there. There is much to be told about the life of Dr. Peter. It was told that heheld a true supernatural power to locate lost items, locate desease, andtelling fortunes. He could stop the flow of blood by giving the initialsof the proper name of any man or woman. He could tell the exact numberof pigs that a sow would have in a litter. In 1884, John Cawbey, agreat, grandson of Dr Peter wrote: "As a matter of fact, I rememberthere lived a man on the farm of Thomas Gordon, about one mile south ofNicholasville, who had a horse stolen. He came to see Dr Trisler threetimes before he would tell him where the horse was. On the third day, DrTrisler met the owner of the stolen horse and told him to go to the townof Lancaster in Garrard County, and near the county jail he would findthe horse hitched to a fence. He added,"But the man who took the horsefrom your stable, has been killed in a drunken frolic". It is told that when he came to America he brought with him an old familyBible that had been printed in Wittenberg in 1444. No one has been ableto locate this Bible. Was last known to be in the household of adescendant of his daughter Mary Elizabeth. (Cawby was the name) It wassaid to contain much family information and other records. It is believed he was the motivating force behind the settlement of theGermans in Kentucky from Maryland in 1790. The first German settlementwas called, "Chattersville." That is where Abraham Houser/Howser builthis first church. Houser also built a mill where he made whiskey tosupport his church. Parts of that old mill are standing today on a farmon the banks of East Jessmine Creek. Dr Peter's daughter, Mary Elizabeth, married Abraham Houser's son. Some researchers show he was born in Wittenburg Germany and some show hewas born in Dessau Germany. They are two different cities. It is said hereceived his MD in 1767 in Wittenburg. ( above dates are not verified, just furnished to me by other researchers) In my files are copies of the deed where he purchased three lots in thecity of Nicholasville, county seat of Jessamine County, in 1802. Theywere lots # 99, 100 and 107. And, a copy of all his assets being soldupon his death. This copy shows the item, who purchased it, and theprice paid. Copy of notes due him, amounts and named debtor are also inmy files. There are records where he made wills for other, witnessed forguardianships, signed permission documents for marriages, etc. We have personally visited the old German Settlement on Jessamine Creekwhere the Germans first lived. There are still many signs of thesettlement there. Limestone partial walls, which some were homes, some were fences. It isa beautiful spot and will make you tingle when you walk on the land theywalked on two hundred and twenty some years ago. (Pictures in my files) Researchers Alvin and Bonnie Trisler along with their daughter Connie andGranddaughter, Shannon, have uncovered a court case file giving the nameof Dr Peter's wife to be ELIZABETH, Senr. His name isspelled Peter TRISTER in this printing. These soldiers were from JessamineCounty Kentucky and fought in the Battle of the Thames, June 13, 1813. This information was found in the Historical Society of Harrodsburg,Mercer County Kentucky. We know about his wives, copies of the original marriage bonds are in myfiles, but have no information about the children shown in the 1820Jessamine County Census. He first showed on the Jessamine County Tax Roll in 1804 through 1810. Then he disappeared until 1815 through 1820. On January 15, 1878, Stephen A.Trisler and Amanda Ellen Wade were united in marriage and to them were born two sons and two daughters but one of whom survives. Also twin granddaughters Eva and Wilma Trisler of Cincinnati. His first wife died in October 1904, and in the month of June 1909 he was united in marriage with Maggie Collett of Vernon, Indiana. His many remarks to intimate friends proved his high esteem and devotion to both his second and former companions. Brother Trisler's early life was spent in the Hopewell neighborhood in which he was born and where he was held in highest regards. Most of his manhood years were spent in Johnson twp. and since 1904 and until the time of his death, he lived in Versailles or the immediate vicinity. In early life Brother Trisler united with the Hopewell Baptist church and later transferred his membership to the Tanglewood Baptist church of which he died a member. He was a member of Versailles Lodge no. 269, Knights of Pythias, and was a faithful, beloved, and appreciated member both of his church and his Lodge. His life is an inspiration to all who knew him and of him. It may fluence the world in which he moved. It may well be said that through his influence, the world is better by his having lived in it.
