The Will of JACOB CUNNIUS is recorded in WILL BOOK O (1859-1863) pp. 619-620, on file in the Madison County Clerk's office, Richmond, Kentucky. Dated October 17, 1840. Probated January 13, 1863. Names wife as Mary Cunnius, to have one third of my estate during her life time or widowhood...after her death to be divided. I give to my granddaughter, my son William Cunnius daughter, her name unknown to me...now living in Indiana the sum of $150.00. To my daughter Elizabeth Gromen?? and my son Talton Cunnius, my daughters Lutture/Lettiue?? Roberts and Catherine Long. To my two granddaughters: Lettie?? Jane Tuder and Nancy Ann Tuder...a child part of my estate. To my daughter Artemize?? Pink (Pinkston) children one share of my estate. I appoint John Sallee guardian for my daughter Lutture/Lettiue?? Roberts children. At her death to be divided, if there should be anything left. I appoint Oliver Sallee guardian for my daughter Polly Tuder two daughters: Lettiue? Jane and Nancy Ann Tuder. I appoint William Stapp guardian for my daughter, Artermize? Pinkston three children: Albert B. Pinkston, William T. Pinkinston and Irvin? Pinkston. The following is a list of Jacob's children and known marriages: William Cunius in Indiana who had a dau. Caroline who married Isaac McClanahan Elizabeth m. Jacob Cunis lived to be 96 years. His second wife Mary Phelps Cunis living in 1848 but when will was probated was dead. Jacob came from Pa. and built his cabin down on Silver Creek, swimming hole there is still called Cunis Hole. I believe that he is buried at Friendship but in unmarked grave. Still trying to put clues together. I descend thru his dau. Catherine and James Creamer Long, I have list of their children if you want.
In the 1860 census, Jacob Cunis, age 94 was living with a Aquillia Roberts age 52 and his wife, Mahala, age 51 and their 7 children.
Around them are families of Bogie, Comely, masters, Roberts, Newby, Agee, Roach, whittaker, Kanatzar.

Notes for Jacob Cunius:
Jacob Cunis was German and spoke broken English. He brought his German Bible with him from the old country. The name of his first wife is not known. He settled at Friendship in Madison County, Kentucky very early. He lived near a body of water on Silver Creek called Cunius hole.
It has been told that he did not get along with his first wife. When she died he told a neighbor that "the old devil is dead." A body of water on Silver Creek was known as Cunius Hole. His will is dated October 17, 1840 and was probated January 13, 1863. The will was witnessed by James DeJarnette and Abraham Burton. The executors were James Long and William Stapp.

Their daughter Catherine Roberts married Harrison Taylor on Feb 12, 1860. They are my gggrandparents. Harrison and Catherine had only two children, my ggrandfather Hiram L. Taylor, b 12/12/1861 and Lucinda Taylor, b 12/23/1865. Hiram married Ida Comley. The only information I have on Lucinda is that she married a Lowery/Lowry and she is also buried at Friendship.
Lettie Cunius was born in 1804 and died in 1917. I'm not sure where she and William were buried, but my father has been told that their daughter, Catherine, was buried in the same cemetary and that may be in Garrard County rather than in Madison. Parents: Jacob CUNIUS.
