Writer Elkinton ("Family Lines") accounts for wives ofWilliam Dabney as: William married (1) about 1760, Jane Harris (bornabout 1747, died 1770). Jane Harris died and William married (2)Rachel _____. William Dabney and Rachel ____ divorced and Williammarried (3) Anna Harris, sister of Jane. William Dabney and JaneHarris had children, 1. Nancy, born about 1765, probably BedfordCounty, died probably Wayne County, Kentucky, married 8 August 1783,Thomas Lane, Bedford County, 2. Nathan, born about 1767, probablyBedford County, Virginia, died after 1851, Macon County, Missouri,married 21 December 1789, Jenny/Jane Younger, Bedford County. WilliamDabney and second wife, Rachel _____ (maybe Quarles) had children, 3.Fanny, born about 1772, married 1790, John Jackson, Bedford County, 4.William, born about 1773, married 10 January 1793, Becky Echols,Bedford County. William Dabney and third wife, Ann Harris had child,5. Lucy. If Jane Harris died young, William may have placed thechildren with Cornelius Dabney and Molly; no legal record. There is arecord of Cornelius giving consent for Nancy to marry Thomas Lane on 8August 1783 in Bedford County, Virginia. Cornelius gave permission 2years earlier for his daughter, Nancy, to marry John Overstreet.
It is supposed that William Dabney accompanied his brother Nathan fromVirginia, near Lynchburg, in 1808. He lived awhile in Wayne County,Kentucky and afterwards moved to Indiana. His son Benjamin, when only14 years of age, went into the army during the War of the Revolution,and was at the Battle of Guilford Court House.

Nathan Dabney, Sr. bought land in Bevier Township, 2 January 1837. Hewas an early pioneer and the first county tax assessor. 6 June 1850,Macon County, Missouri, Nathan Dabney, Jr. bought land from hisparents, Nathan, Sr. and Jane Dabney for $200.00. Instead of payment,Nathan, Jr. signed a bond agreeing "voluntarily to maintain the saidNathan, Sr. and Jane Dabney during the remainder of their lifetime.Witness was George M.
