Freelove DYER17,45 was born on 21 Jun 1699 in Little Compton, Rhode Island. She died after 1750 in Fairfax County, Virginia. Freelove Dyer was born in Little Compton, Rhode Island, and was the greatgrandchild of Mary and William Dyer. Charles Dyer, their sixth son had ason, James Dyer, who was the father of Freelove. Charles Dyer was bornin 1650, and died May 15, 1709. His first wife was Mary_____, and hissecond wife, Martha Wait, widow of Jeremiah. James Dyer, his son, wasborn in Little Compton, and married in 1696. Freelove's brother,Charles, was born March 22, 1697, and married Elizabeth Shreve, sister ofWilliam Shreve, the husband of Freelove. James Dyer moved with hisfamily to Bucks Co., Pennsylvania, and died there about 1735. Letters ofadministration were granted on his estate January 29, 1735-6, to WilliamShreve, his son-in-law. The sureties were William Shreve and Henry VanHorn.

About 1745 William Shreve and Freelove Dyer went to Fairfax County,Virginia to live. He died there about 1750. His widow, Freelove,appears upon the court records of Fairfax and Loudon Counties,petitioning for her dower, and her sons, Benjamin and William, are actingfor her.

William Dyer, the great grandfather of Freelove Dyer Shreve, was thefirst attorney general for Rhode Island , in 1650, and one of theoriginal settlers. Commander-in-chief upon the sea. He was sent toEngland in 1653 to revise the charter and was one of the most prominentmen in Rhode Island in its early colonal history. His wife Mary Dyerwas hung on Boston common in 1660, for preaching the Quaker doctrine inthat city.
