Afterthis Battle the American General Morgan went on back towards Virginia andcrossed a River while amediately rose seen after the british would notcross it and General Green came and took the Command and the Americansstill kept towards virginia and crossed a river and took all the beats tothere side and kept on and broak up the reads by cutting trees until theycrossed another river and the Americans armey received more troops fromVirginia and went to Guilford when there was a long and hot Battle and the British staid onthe ground but the Americans had the best of the battle. some short timeafter this battle he went to Hanover county Virginia and then volunteeredand served a lower of three months and was in the lower part of virginiaand was at the surrender of Lord Cornwallis which was in the fall of 1781but he dose not recollect the names of the officers he was under but thatPrince Lafayatte and General Washington was the American Generals andafter the surrender of the British army under Cornwallis he went to redstone in Virginia and volunteered under Major Hickman to fight theIndians and one of Major Hickman's sons was the captain and he servedabout one whole year under Major and Captain Hickman against the Indianswhich was on the frontier country west of hagerstown in Maryland and hewas a soldier he further declares that he was born in Germany in Europeand in the town of ? and come as a soldier to fight the Americans in 1776and did continue as a soldier under the british stationed in New Yorkuntil Commodore Collier in the first part of the year 1779 landed inVirginia where he then deserted and went to the Americans and then joined the army of the United states under General stevens in 1780 in thespring and continued with until the spring of 1781 and dose not know thecompany of officers names and he knew but few English words then and notmany more now and knows not how his tower was laid off. But knows wellthat he was in and continued in actual service the whole length of timehe has stated and that he neus (knows) of no one by whom he can prove theafore said services for the United States but that he could have done soby Jacob Sikes who was in company with him when he left Germany and waswith me when I deserted and in all the fore said services and who died inJessamine county about ten years ago. he hereby relinquishes every claim whateverto a pension or security except the present and declares that his name is not on the pension roll of the agency of anystate whatever and he further states that the reason he has not here tofore applied for a pension is that he knew not by whom he could prove hisservices owing to the death of the afore Jacob Sikes.
