Thelma Figg Hardin, 94, of Village Circle in Wilmore, died at her homeon Saturday of congestive heart
failure. She was the widow of Walter Hardin, who died in 1951. BornSept. 26, 1908, to the late Wesley and Louvina Sanders Figg, she was aprivate duty caregiver for most of her life and was the oldest livingmember of the High Bridge Union Church until her death. Survivorsinclude two daughters, Dorothy H. Smith and her husband, Russell, ofFrankfort, and Jean H. Waller of High Bridge; a brother, Dick Figg andhis wife, Mary, of Wilmore; a sister, Virginia Lamb of Lawrenceburg; 12grandchildren; 17
great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several niecesand nephews. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hager &Cundiff Funeral Home with the Rev. Leonard Fitch
officiating. Burial followed in Spring Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.Her grandsons served as bearers.

Thelma Figg Hardin. She is the grandchild of Weston and Minerva, born in 1908, and still sharp as a tack. She says that her grandfather, Weston, was born in Garrard Co. She says he died in High Bridge in Jessamine Co. and that he and his wife are buried right here in the Wilmore cemetery along with several of Westons family. She said that Weston worked at the sawmill in High Bridge. Parents: Richard Wesley FIGG and Rebecca Lounenia SANDERS.

On this 5th day of August 1850, personally appeared before the County Court of
said County Nancy Findley, a resident of said County of Giles, aged about
seventy five years, who being duly sworn according to law, doth on her oath,
make the following declaration, in order to obtain the benefit of the
provisions amde [ammended?] by the Act of Congress passed the 29 July 1848
that she is the widow of George Findley deceased, who was a private in the
Army of the Revolution and who ????? under the Act of 7th June 1832 until his
death. She further declares that she was married to the said George Findley on
the first day of October 1795 that her husband, the aforesaid George Findley,
died on the 25th day of June 1849 at which time his certificate of pension was
surrendered to the Pension Agent at Pulaski in said state; that she was not
married to the said George Findley prior to his leaving the service, but the
marriage took place previous to the second of January eighteen hundred , viz,
at the time above stated. She further declares that she is now a widow and
that she has never before made any application for a pension.

On this 30th day of August 1832 personally appeared in open court before the
Honorable William E. Kennedy Judge of the eighth Judicial Circuit now sitting
George Findley a resident of the County of Lawrence and State of Tennessee
aged seventy one years on the twelfth day of last ??? who being first duly
sworn according to Law doth on his oath make the following declaration in
order to obtain the benefit of the act of Congress passed June 7th 1832 that
he entered the service of the United States under the following named persons
officers and served as herein stated that he turned out volunteer for three
months in all Mecklinburg County, North Carolina in the latter part of the
summer 1780 shortly after Gates Defeat under Captain James Rees in Col.
Francis Locks Regiment commanded by General Dawson of Mecklinburg at six mile
Creek at the end of said term that he again volunteered for three months under
Captain Stephen Alexander in the said County of Mecklinburg State of North
Carolina in February 1781 Colonel Joseph Williamson was the Colonel and
Davidson was the General until he was killed at ???ford on the Catawba river
and that he was discharged at Alamance Creek North Carolina at the end of said
term that he again turned out as a substitute for three months in said County
of Mecklinburg state of North Carolina in the place of Archy Woodside under
Colonel Molberry & ?? General Green commander in chief that he took the place
of said Woodside in the month of August 1781 and that Woodsides Captain was
Joseph Dickson but that he was employed in riding ??? that he was discharged
at the end of said time in Rowan County North Carolina that he was at the
battle of Ramsons(?) and the one at ??? Creek that his campaigns were served
in North and South Carolina the only regular officers he recollects were
General Smallwood and Colonel Markingson & that he received a discharge at the
end of each of said terms of three months the first was signed by Captain Rees
the second by Captain Stephen Alexander and the last by Colonel Lock that he
gave them to David Wilson to get his .....

1843, possibly attracted by the land boom at Marion City, Marion County.
Since this town never developed, due to flooding in the bottomland of the
Mississippi River, the couple settled near Palmyra, just a few miles to
the west.
Here they farmed and reared a family of thirteen children. Eight died in
childhood. Of the remaining five, only Ellen lived to an old age. Ellen
Finley married William M. Hanly and these two became the branch we call
the Shelbina Hanlys.
