"Uncle Dub" was born in Bryantsville, Garrard, Ky. Graduated from Danville High School. Graduate of Centre College. Graduated from U. of Louisville Dental School with a DMD. Had a flourishing practice in Coral Gables, Florida. He was drafted during the Korean War & had a tour in Korea , he then returned to his practice in Coral Gables, Fla.
Smoked moderately heavly & had some increasing problems with emphysema in his late 40s.
While in his office on may 15, 1967, he started having intense abdominal cramps followed by lots of diarrheic stools. He then went home and a short time later complained of increasing chest pains and requested his wife, Betty, to call his cardiologist (Dr. Dean Dolison in Coral Gables (tel.# 305-443-3000)). An ambulance was called And he died in route to the hospital. His wife thinks an autopsy was performed but is unaware of the results. He was 50 years old when he died.

At family reunion in 1999, Jim Faulkner discussed the details of his death. He was visiting in Ft. Thomas as Danville was playing Ft. Thomas Highlands in football --both were football powers -- Elmer & John Jackson (Sons of his daughter, Gladys, were playing for Danville & Dale, Son of daughter, Madrew, was playing for Highlands. He either had a heart attack &/or had pneumonia develop soon after that game. He was treated for heart failure by his son-in-law, Dr. Stanley Faulkner, at the home of Dr, Faulkner in Ft. Thomas. Jim remembers him helping his father put on & rotating extremity tourniquets as he was worsening. As he was getting worse & worse, Jim remembers encouraging him to win & he told him "Jimmie, I am not going to make it" --& died.
