James of Albemarle Co. bought 320 acres in Orange in 1771. James and Frances of Albemarle sold 145 acres in Orange Co. in 1777 and 225 in 1779. Road overseer in 1775, also in western end of Orange. Family records state that he and his wife are buried at the Old German Burying Ground near, Wilkesboro in Wilkes Co, NC. This may be the old Dutch Cemetery, across from Antioch Church, in eastern Wilkes Co. Witson, Cookeville, were held Saturday at the First Methodist Church in Springfield and burial was in Elmwood Cemetery. Mrs. Ensor's death occured Friday at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, following a brief illness. A native of Overton County, she was th daughter of William and Amanda Starnes Isbell, and was the widow of Rev. Simon Ensor, a Methodist minister, and also a native Putnam Countian. Rev and Mrs Ensor called Robertson County home for several years while he was a minister at the Springfield and Cross Plains Methodist Chruches. For 2 years she had resided with a sister, Mrs Jewell Lee of Nashville. Early in his life, hehad a job with White Castle in Danville, Ky. -- that owner was impressed with his work ethic & offered him the opportunity to be a partner in a new franchise --Jerry's Restaurant -- which was a huge success. His family ran a dairy & he delivered milk in Danville as a youth. He graduated from Centre College. Then, went to U of Louisville Med School. Internship in Atlanta, Ga @ Emory U. He began general practice in Hazard, Ky. & worked closely with Dr James E Hagan. He moved to Danville,Ky. & started a practice in 1945 & worked closely with Dr Stuart Hemphill. He had to cease practice in 1965 due to a Demerol Addiction & did recover from this. He then became a doctor for the mentally impaired children in Dawson Springs for several years at Outwood State Hospital. He then served in the same capacity in Louisville, Ky @ Outwood Hospital. Later, he retired to Fort Myers, Fla. where he lived until his death. He was very revered in Danville, Ky. & had a huge practice. He was a director at Citizen's National Bank, President of Central Kentucky Building & Loan, Chairman of the local public school board & instrumental in beginning integration in the 1950s before it was mandated.
