"Record of Marriages and Burials in the Monocacy Church in FrederickCounty, Maryland and in the Evangelical Lutheran Congregation in theCity of Frederick, Maryland 1743-1811", transcribed and edited byFrederick Sheely Weiser, p. 45, marriage of Johann Jacob Trautmann andAnna Maria Hutzel 5 February 1786, Frederick County, Maryland, witnesses Phrene and Anna Trautmann, Gabriel Hutzel, Daniel Kruger,Anna Maria, daughter of Abraham Muller. MILR MD01- Correspondence and notes of Achilles Bellucci, 21 CassieStreet, Barre, Vermont 05641-3263: The best history of Abraham Millerand his family is to be found in "Pioneers of Old Monocacy" by GraceTracey and John Dern. The authors offer three different arrivals ofAbraham Mueller, with minor disagreements on each one. The likeliestis "August 23, 1733, Palatines, ship "Hope", of London, Dan. Reid,Master, from Rotterdam, last of Cowes, males eighty-three abovesixteen, females eighty-one; males and females two hundred andtwenty-five under sixteen, in all 389." Included in the list is"Abraham Miller*". * indicates that Abraham signed his own name;therefore his autograph exists. Taken from Rupp's "30,000 Immigrants",this list also includes three Schreyack brothers, of which "Hans GeorgSchreyack" is also an ancestor. As the arrival lists do not identifyfemales by name, we do not know whether Abraham arrived with a wife, and if so, which one. No record has ever been found of MariaMagdelena's death nor any record of Abraham's second marriage toFrances (Frana) _______; so, we are left to wonder whether MariaMagdalena may have died in Germany and Frances was the wife who cameto America with Abraham. On 11 June 1737, in Frederick County,Maryland, our Abraham, with five other settlers, agreed to buy"Tasker's Choice" from Benjamin Tasker for 200 pounds. Unable to raisethis amount, on 13 January 1744, they got Daniel Dulaney to take titlefrom Tasker and resell to them. On 28 July 1746, Abraham and eighteenother Germans, received title of their individual "Tasker's Choice"lands from Dulaney. Abraham's deed is found in Frederick County,Maryland, Deed Book EE-111, for 200 acres. Today, SR 26, the oldWorman Mill, and the city filtration plant (Frederick) are all locatedon Abraham's former land. In 1744, Abraham was appointed overseer ofthe road from Mill Branch to Monocacy Manor. In 1740, Abraham and fiveof his children were naturalized. In 1742, he signed a petition todivide St. George's Parish. In 1743, two Moravian Missionaries, whowere travelling south, on foot, were reluctantly taken in for thenight by one, who they called Abraham Muller, the Mennonite. TheMissionaries were named Leonhard Schnell and Robert Hussey. Also, in1743, a neighbor, John Hussey, accused Abraham of taking his strayhorse; Abraham was released by the Court. In 1748 and 1751, Abrahamwas the administrator of Hussey's estate. On 26 October 1750, Abrahamand Frances (Frana) deeded their "Tasker's Choice" land back toDulaney. It is thought that Abraham, being a Mennonite, may have leftthe area because it was dominated by the Lutheran and ReformedCongregations. In March 1750, he purchased 200 acres of "Cooper'sPoint", in the Lewistown area, from Teter and Hannah Lehnich. On 26October 1751, Abraham had "Miller's Chance" re-surveyed and added twoother tracts, making a combined total of 1,289 acres. This tract hadbeen patented by Edward Dorsey in 1753 (?). On the waters of hisproperty, Abraham operated three mills which became known as landmarksin Frederick County. Between 1746 and 1750, Abraham appeared a numberof times in the Court records, where he was involved in tradedisputes. In 1749, a grand jury indicted him for keeping a "tipplinghouse". In 1750, Abraham sued Teter Laney for stealing two of hishogs; the jury brought in a verdict of "not guilty". In 1751, Abrahamwas appointed to lay out a wagon road from Frederick Town alongTuscarora Creek. Children of Abraham Miller and Frances _____ were: 1. Jacob, bornabout 1730, died 1810, 2. Abraham, 3.
