Thomas Perkins was granted 25 3/4 acres on Jackson Branch by Vincent Kidwell and wife on 1 March 1812 (Madison County, KY Deeds Book I, page 242). From the same he obtained 11 1/2 acres on Jackson Branch on 8 October 1817 (Deeds, Book page 215). From Larkin Ballard he obtained 37 acres on Tates Creek on 21 Sept 1820 (Deed Book O, page 243). The deeds show that on 20 Dec 1826, Michael Perkins' heirs deeded him 120 acres on Tates Creek (Deeds Book R, page 465). Another deed, dated 7 Jan 1830, from Michael Perkins and wife refers to 120 acres on Tates, possibly the same parcel (Deeds Book T, page 225). A commissioners' deed dated 13 Aug 1832 from Michael Perkins heirs to him, refers to 101 1/2 acres on Tates Creek (Deeds Book U, page 375). Thomas R. Perkins' function as grantee from Michael Perkins' heirs perhaps stemmed from having been named as one of the executors under his father's will to see to his business including that in Virginia. Thomas R. Perkins is among the grantors named in connection with Michael perkins' heirs, in two of which he was also grantee: the deed of 20 Dec 1826 for 120 acres on Tates Creek, and the commissioners' deed of 13 Aug 1832 for 101 1/2 acres on the same creek. In another instrument, he is among Michael Perkins' heirs who deeded 16 3/4 acres on Tates Creek to Winifred Newby, et al. on 27 Aug 1832. Will of Thomas Wright Perkins: In the name of God, Amen. I, Thomas R. Perkins, of Madison County and State of Kentucky, being sick and weak in body but of sound mind and disposing memory, for which I thank God, and calling to mind the uncertainty of human life, and being desirous to dispose of all such worldly estate as it has pleased God to bless me with, I give and bequeath the same in manner following: That is to say, I wish my wife Sally Perkins to have the whole of my estate for twelve months after my death. I also give and bequeath my gray mare and my two pide (pied) cows to her during her widowhood, also my household and kitchen furniture. I give my son Jesse Perkins my great coat and gun, and when he arrives to the age of Twenty one years he is to have Twenty-Five dollars, which I consider I owe him. I also wish my children Jane Perkins, Jesse Perkins, Winnifred Perkins, Thomas Perkins, Richard Perkins, and Major Perkins to have sixty dollars each if there is that much for them, which will make them about equal with my daughter Susan who intermarried with John Newby. And if there should be anything left, I wish it to be equally divided between my above named children. And lastly, I appoint my friend Reuben Moore, my Executor. in witness where of I have set my hand and seal this 23d of January. Attest. Samuel Fox, Reuben Munday, Daniel White.
