Jacob Rorer had purchased land in Maryland as follows. On April 19, 1739
he purchased 50 acres, known as, "Rorer's Lot". On March 19, 1747 hepurchased 507 acres, known as, "Hager's Fancy" This may or may not bean ancestor of the Jacob Roher who left Maryland for Jessamine Cty KY>

Jacob Rohrer came to Jessamine County in 1794 or 1795 from HagerstownMaryland and settled along the Jessamine Creek buying land betweenWilmore and Nicholasville. He was the first "Moravian "minister in thecounty. This sect would later be known as the United Brethern. He was acooper by trade and also a farmer. He never accepted money for hispreaching or preaching duties. His son Jacob, Jr was also a pastor ofthat church. The church was later called United Christian. It stood onwhat is now Short Shun Pike. The Moravians also had a school at thechurch. His son Rev. Jacob, Jr later deeded land on July 24, 1841 to theWilmore Christian Church. When that church moved to Wilmore, they toredown the old church for the usable lumber to be used in the constructionof the present building they use now in Wilmore.
The name Rohrer was first changed by descendants of Jacob Jr's son,Thomas Jefferson Rhorer, to "Rhorer" during the 1800's.
