In the book: Division of Land Allotment & Dower, there is an entry for Oct. 24 & 25, 1883 where 3 court-appointed men went to the late Ausburn's farm and decided which heir got which land. They even hand drew a map in the book showing the property outline and the divisions. His widow Mildred got 1/3 of the farm, C.C. (Cyrus?) got a little more than 1/3, John M. & Edward jointly received the remainder. The map shows the farm straddling Silver Creek and is described as being on "Lick branch", bordering the Alverson property.

Osborne Saunders asked the court for permission "to erect a gate across the Silver Creek road near the line between him and Jarrot Hill".
(note: the road was probably more of a path where his cows could get out. Anyway, the court approved it as long as it was made of substantial material and opened and closed easily)
