Although I never met my Aunt Mary, I remember my mother talking about herand what a wonderful person she was. Since she had married into someOsage Indian family with lots of money, she shared much with the familieswho were in need. She gave clothes to my older sisters on manyoccasions. She always wrote to the family when they did not livenearby. In 1910 the census shows she had taken into her home herhusband's father John Hildebrand, and three of her sister Sarah'schildren. They were: Myrtle, age 15, George, age 19, and Anna,
age 6.
Mary had only one child, Nancy, that we can find records for. Marysigned her marriage license giving her permission to marry at the age ofseventeen. (copy in my files)

Milton L. TRISLER194 was born in 1838 in Indiana. By Researcher: Tina (Trisler) Gilbert

I have found proof that this Milton is the brother to my G-father GeorgeTrisler.
I believe I have found the Civil War papers on this Milton Trisler. Fromthe National Archives in Washington D C, copies of his Muster papers showhim to have enlisted in Co I, 53rd Reg't, Indiana Infantry on Dec 4,186l. He is described as being age 22, five feet six inches tall, darkcomplexon, eyes and hair black. Says he was born in Jessamine Cty, KY,lived in Rockport. The unit was guarding prisoners in Indianapolis, whenhe enlisted. Then the Co was sent to Savannah, TN spring 1862. A hugebattle was fought here.
He was evidently injured during the battle and spent Feb thro' April in ahospital there in Savannah. May & June 1862 he was home on sickfurlough. July & Aug 1862, he was sick in hospital in Evansville, INsince April. Aug 18, 1862 he was sent to ST Lous Mo hospital and theredeclared unfit for duty. Sept & Oct, 1862, he was back in hospital inEvansville. On November 10, 1862 he deserted.

On looking over this schedule, I can see why the man would desert. Hewas injured the first battle and spent the entire year going from onehospital to the other. I can imagine since Evansville, is just acrossthe river from his home in Rockport, that he must have decided, "if I amgoing to die, I am going to die at home". And just left the hospital forhome. No death date is known, but he married in 1867, had bought & soldland in 1866. One piece of property was inherited, no doubt from hisfather. (copy of deed in my file) His wife Josephine sold land in 1871.(copy of deed in my file) It would appear that his death was near thatdate.

Dr. Peter TRISLER25,26,194 was born about 1740 in Wittenberg, Germany. He died on 22 Apr 1821 in Jessamine Co, KY.

By Researcher: Tina (Trisler) Gilbert

DATES ARE NOT PROVEN. INFORMATION TAKEN FROM BOOKS, OTHER RESEARCHES,etc.
All documents are copied from the originals in the Courthouse inNicholasville.

DR. PETER TRISLER was the immigrant for our Trisler family.

Peter Trisler was a medical Doctor. He was born in Wittenburg, Germanyin 1745. He arrived in Baltimore, Md. in April, 1780 with his children,Henry and Mary Elizabeth. Peter, Jr. and Catherine were born inHagerstown, Maryland.
Another daughter, named Elizabeth, whose birth information is unknown atthis time. No wife has ever been found for Dr. Peter.
(update-2002) A copy of a court case where a subpeona was served to DrPeter's wife shows her name to be Elizabeth?

Records show Dr. Peter was guardian of Joseph Trisler thought to be theson of his brother Michael. As guardian, he gave permission for JosephTrisler to marry Elizabeth Sneider, September 11, 1810. (copy in my file)

Peter came to America on ship "Royal Edith", along with his sisterBarbara (1741 - 1817) who was married to Peter Frederick Horine. Theyall settled in Hagerstown Maryland, where they raised large families.Peter left Maryland in 1790 and removed to Kentucky, where he settled onJessamine Creek just outside Lexington. He served the community where helived.
There are four excerpts about Dr. Peter Trisler in the Kentucky Gazette, the first newspaper published West of the Alleghanys.
Volume XI, number 611, 06 June 1798. "Dr Peter Trisler, 05 June 1798,living on the main fork of Jessamine Creek in Fayette County. Notice todebtors: please pay your bills".
Volume X11, number 667, 04 July 1799. A list of letters at the PostOffice in Lexington, one for Dr Peter Trisler in Jessamine County.
Volume X111, number 695, 16 January 1800. "Dr Peter Trisler ofJessamine County, 14 January 1800. Dr Peter Trisler of Jessamine County, 14 January 1800 regarding a new shipment of medicines at his office."
Volume X1V , number 779, Monday, 24 August 1801. "Dr Peter Trisler ofJessamine County has medicine for sale."

A plaque honoring the medical men of his day is on the wall of aMedical Building erected in the Old Fort Harrod Museum, in Harrodsburg,Mercer, Ky and Dr. Peter Trisler is etched there.
There is much to be told about the life of Dr. Peter. It was told that heheld a true supernatural power to locate lost items, locate desease, andtelling fortunes. He could stop the flow of blood by giving the initialsof the proper name of any man or woman. He could tell the exact numberof pigs that a sow would have in a litter. In 1884, John Cawbey, agreat, grandson of Dr Peter wrote: "As a matter of fact, I rememberthere lived a man on the farm of Thomas Gordon, about one mile south ofNicholasville, who had a horse stolen. He came to see Dr Trisler threetimes before he would tell him where the horse was. On the third day, DrTrisler met the owner of the stolen horse and told him to go to the townof Lancaster in Garrard County, and near the county jail he would findthe horse hitched to a fence. He added,"But the man who took the horsefrom your stable, has been killed in a drunken frolic".
It is told that when he came to America he brought with him an old familyBible that had been printed in Wittenberg in 1444. No one has been ableto locate this Bible. Was last known to be in the household of adescendant of his daughter Mary Elizabeth. (Cawby was the name) It wassaid to contain much family information and other records.

It is believed he was the motivating force behind the settlement of theGermans in Kentucky from Maryland in 1790. The first German settlementwas called, "Chattersville." That is where Abraham Houser/Howser builthis first church. Houser also built a mill where he made whiskey tosupport his church. Parts of that old mill are standing today on a farmon the banks of East Jessmine Creek.
Dr Peter's daughter, Mary Elizabeth, married Abraham Houser's son.

Some researchers show he was born in Wittenburg Germany and some show hewas born in Dessau Germany. They are two different cities. It is said hereceived his MD in 1767 in Wittenburg. ( above dates are not verified, just furnished to me by other researchers)

In my files are copies of the deed where he purchased three lots in thecity of Nicholasville, county seat of Jessamine County, in 1802. Theywere lots # 99, 100 and 107. And, a copy of all his assets being soldupon his death. This copy shows the item, who purchased it, and theprice paid. Copy of notes due him, amounts and named debtor are also inmy files.

There are records where he made wills for other, witnessed forguardianships, signed permission documents for marriages, etc.

We have personally visited the old German Settlement on Jessamine Creekwhere the Germans first lived. There are still many signs of thesettlement there.
Limestone partial walls, which some were homes, some were fences. It isa beautiful spot and will make you tingle when you walk on the land theywalked on two hundred and twenty some years ago. (Pictures in my files)

Sarah had a nickname of Sally. We always called her Aunt Sally.
I had a picture of her early on, but somehow it has gotten lost ormisplaced.
(she is the only one of George and Nancy's children that I do not have apicture.

I have been unable to find much info about her. I know she was buried inthe Collinsville, OK cemetery. But they have no records of the time whenshe was buried. They had stored the records in the courthouse inClaremore, Ok and the building burned, taking all those records with it.I made a personal examination
of the Cemetery where I remembered she was buried, but it is now on acorner of a road through there. It was under a tree at the extreme southend, but the growth of the cemetery has lost the grave. Date of deathunknown, but she was living in the household as a "border" boarder, inthe home of a person I cannot read, in Okesa, Strikeax Twp, Osage Countyin 1910 census records. She had with her, her second husband, Andrew JShores, and two of her sons, Harel age 4 and John age 9. Her other 3children were living with her sister, Mary Hildebrand, they are Myrtleage 15, George age 19, and Anna age 6.
