TROT MD02-Correspondence and notes of Achilles Bellucci, 21 CassieStreet, Barre, Vermont 05641-3263: Through the inheritance of his wifeand his own purchases, Peter became a large land-owner. In the springof 1791, Peter and Anna Maria sold six tracts of land and "in theautumn, two boats bore the family and their possissions down the Ohioas far as Maysville, Kentucky. In the spring of 1793, he bought landalong David's Fork of the Elkhorn in Fayette County, Kentucky." Someof Peter's children are said to have preceded him in 1790. From "BurntRecords of Fayette County", we find: Book 7-200, Troutman, Peter fromJohn Rogers, 100 acres on David's Fork; Book 1-122, Troutman, Peterfrom John Rogers, 92 acres on North Elkhorn, adjoining Benjamin Ashby.Peter's house is said to have stood near the border of Fayette andBourbon Counties, on the old Paris-Lexington Pike.

In 1811, Peter Troutman, Sr. is namedsecurity for Ann Loe (Peter's daughter), administrix of the estate ofher second husband, Charles Loe (Lowe).

It is of farther interest that Peter Troutman was also known as GeorgePeter Troutman. Peter's son, Jacob, located his home a short distancewest of Bryan's Station, on a hill. Jacob refused to cut the briersthat sprang up all over the hillside. The locality became known as"Brier Hill" and is formalized as the Brier Hill Precinct ofLexington.
